Switching to english

Escrito el Miércoles 20 Julio 2005

Finally I have decided to begin to write my blog in english. The popular claim has forced me to switch. I think I can be funnier and more ironic in spanish, but only the spanish people can enjoy all the silly things that I use to write.

As an example of my disability to be funny in english, yesterday I tried to explain to Andrea and Ilaria my famous metaphor about spanish girls and bullfighting. I couldn’t. It is really hard to explain to non-spanish people how it is a bull fighting.

So finally I have to change it by the italian football (and catenaccio) metaphor.

If you are interested in these metaphors, don’t be it too much; I am afraid I am like the coach of the team: a lot of theory but as a player I am really bad. Anyway, if you are really interested I will tell you in my deathbed; but remember me it, because I am very bad remembering things ;-)

Another reason that have impulsed me to switch is the movie we (Andrea, Ilaria, Katerina, Ángela, Vanesa, Dinar, and some more -sorry, as I said, I am very bad remembering things) watched yesterday in the EasyCinema. The movie was Madagascar. It is a very funny movie. And surprisingly I understood the most of the movie. Well, I know, it is a kids movie, but I am happy because my english is at least as good as the english of a kid. For me it is enough. Yes, of course, it is not the proper english to meet girls, but in any case I have a good theoretical background (football and bullfighting theories), so I think it is only a question of training (meeting girls I mean, no speaking english ;-) ). Any volunteer girl?

After the movie, some people went back home, and some other went to take a pizza to a restaurant. In the restaurant we found paper toys; those with labels, that a kid is supposed to build easily. The first frustated was Andrea (herr doktor), that car was not so easy to build as it seems at the beginning. I followed him. We (a doctor and a wannabe-doctor) were not capable of building a kid toy. Well, never mind. Nobody saw us, so we can keep the secret.

Well, for my first post in english I think is not so bad. Next weekend Teo is coming to Milton Keynes. We are going to make a spanish dinner on Friday evening, and visiting London on Saturday with Katerina and Ángela. So I hope to write more boring english stories; keep an eye on this blog :-) .

1 - thank you, because know we can understand a bit more your blog. Much much much better. Next time if you can switch to Italian, for me, it will be really GREAT ;-)

2 - thank you for yesterday night it was really funny even if we really couldn’t understand the bullfighting metaphor. May be, that happened because the beginning “the girls are like bulls” is not the best one.

3 - thank you, because you’ve said that Peline and Ilaria are nobody (because we have seen you boys). Nanna nanna nanna we won Nanna nanna nanna
We have our street girls… basically I’ve stolen even the street car
    OPSSSSSS

Psss, please don’t tell nobody that we (the boys) couldn’t build the toy, and you (the girls) could build your toys. Please keep the secret (I know, shame on us).

(The real thing: I didn’t remember the name of Peline, and I prefered to put that rather than to put Ilaria and the girl whose name I can’t remember -shame on me- ;-) ).

This English blog is worthy of Shakespeare, the greatest writer in any language, and better than Cervantes in the same way that fish and chips is better than tortilla espagnol! When Israel makes his “bull-fighting” metaphor about women he should take a “sol y sombra” seat - you have to be sometimes in the light and sometimes in the dark in order to appreciate the full beauty of the female.

Vivaaaaa!!! Finally some English from the Spanish geek! :P I am impressed, I think you are ‘pretending’ your English isn’t good because so far you are writing well, understanding kids films, stopped saying ‘what’, ‘why’ so many times, even started saying ‘I’m sorry..’, ‘excuse me…’ and most importantly you have survived in MK so far. You are becoming English Israel !!!! My god what a twist, you who don’t get English culture will become more English than the English!! ¿entiendes lo que quiero decir?
I have two predictions for you: a) you will come back to MK very soon, sooner than you expect! This place is a geek magnet – nobody can escape!! (eakkkkkkkkkk) and b) you will not resist buying a mini ipod this Saturday when I take you to the Apple store (muahahahahahahhahaha).
Israel, what I really want to say is thank you - you have ‘brightened’ our English summer with your stay! :-)

Wow Israel, this first try is much more than just a good start. You’ve even show me some words I didn’t knew before (deathbed?) :)
I’m confident your metaphores will improve as well as your English is doing, the rest (girls) will come sooner :) or later :( . Just take the “sol y sombra” seat mentioned above next to mine ;)
